UAE Construction master Arabtec has won a Dh710million ($193.3m) contract to erect an 80-storey tower on Sheikh Zayed Road, Dubai. The new building will comprise a 5-star hotel, luxurious furnished apartments and offices. As well as the 80 floors, the Atkins-designed building will have 3 basement levels and a ground floor. There will also be a service building with 10 floors and 5 basements – this will be joined to the main building by a bridge on floor 9. It was reported recently in the news that 70% of Arabtec’s stakes were purchased several weeks ago by Aabar Investments, Abu Dhabi. Aside from the above-mentioned project, the firm has also won a number of other construction contracts in Qatar and West Bank, earlier in January, and in Saudi Arabia, Abu Dhabi and Qatar generally during the last few months.
